Simon Bolivar Museum

The Errementarikua farmhouse houses the Simón Bolívar Museum, the "Liberator". The museum and in general the whole of Ziortza-Bolibar is a point of interest for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago along the coast.

The Museum was inaugurated on 24 July 1983 to coincide with the bicentenary of the birth of Simón Bolívar. It is located in Ziortza-Bolibar, the birthplace of Bolívar’s ancestors, in the hamlet known as Errementarikua, next to the Jacobean road. The site is related to the family to which Simón Bolívar the “Old”, the fifth grandfather of Simón Bolívar the “Liberator”, belonged.

The museum collection is dedicated to the history of Bizkaia in the Middle Ages and to the personal and political career of Simón Bolívar the Liberator (1783-1830).

Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday: 10.00-13.00 17:00-19:00

Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays: 12.00- 14.00 17:00-19:00

Closed on Mondays

Guided tours are available, by prior reservation.
