From Aulesti you can walk to the summit, but if you want to enjoy a shorter walk, you can go by car and continue uphill for 10-15 minutes to the hermitage at the summit. From here the scenery is spectacular: the Urdaibai estuary, the coast of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, the mountains of the Duranguesado and the highest mountains of Gizpuzkoa… it cannot be described, you have to get there and look at it yourself.
On the way to the top there is an area with tables, chairs, barbecues, fountains and a bowling alley surrounded by beech trees.
The day of its festivity is the 16th of September, and it is still customary to say mass in the hermitage of Santa Eufemia de Urregarai. On the Sunday following the 16th of September there is usually a mass and then a race from the field to the hermitage, in which many people from the region take part. There is also an irrintzis championship and a pilgrimage in the afternoon.
