Visit the most important port in the Bay of Biscay and the fishermen’s market to find out how fishing activity is carried out today (fish market, dry dock, mermaid, ice factory…).
You will be able to learn about fishing activity, where the most modern techniques are complemented by traditional ones. Talk to the fishermens who come to see the unloading, the species they fish, how the “Merluza a la Ondarresa” is cooked, the hardness of their work and the meaning of the siren (the number of times it sounds is related to the fish that has entered the port). Get to know the auxiliary fishing trades, such as the packers and rowers. And to finish off, stroll along the docks and enjoy the tranquillity of the sea and the view of the Bay of Biscay coastline from the wave breaker.
