Stroll through the historic quarter of Ondarroa to learn about the history of the town and its relationship with the sea.

Stroll through the historic quarter of Ondarroa to learn about the history of the town and its relationship with the sea. Admire the Old Brotherhood  (in its beginnings, its aim was to offer a religious and social aid service to fishermen and their families) together with the Old Bridge and the boat house. Stroll through the typical seafaring streets where illustrious figures such as the writer Txomin Aguirre (Txomin Agirre Street) or the mother of Saint Ignatius of Loyola (Likona Tower) lived. Enter the spell of the legend that swirls around the “ghosts”, medieval characters that live on the roof of the church of Santa María, which is part of Bizkaia’s historical heritage.

Following the path to the chapel of La Antigua, from the Pixape viewpoint you can see the port, the sea, the beach and the town centre at a glance. And to finish the tour, go to the centre and learn about the history of the swing bridge (listed as part of Bizkaia’s historical heritage) and enjoy the experience of walking over the footbridge, a unique case in Spain and one of the few of its kind still preserved in Europe and the world. To finish in the work of the prestigious architect Santiago Calatrava for some the skeleton of a whale and for others an upside down boat.
