A group of craft shipyards for the construction and repair of wooden-hulled boats. Its structures, renovated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, have inherited the site of the old medieval facilities.
The Lea shipyards are the best in Bizkaia, and probably in the Bay of Biscay, in terms of shipbuilding facilities in the traditional style.
The Mendieta shipyard is listed as a monument.
